Happy Mooncake Festival is also known as Mid-Autumn Festival :)
It take its name from the fact that it is always celebrated in the middle of the autumn season, as that time of the year the moon is at its roundest and brightest. The Mid - Autumn Festival is a popular harvest festival that celebrated by Chinese people and Vietnamese people. The festival is held on 15th day of eight months refers to the Chinese calendar.
For me, to celebrate Mooncake Festival , there are 5 type of things cannot to be lack of :
1. Mooncake
2. Lantern
3. Tea
4. Candles
5. A gathering
Well , mooncake and the lantern are the main protagonist during the Mooncake Festival :)
Moon Cake is the special food of the Mid-Autumn Festival. It is a kind of cookie with various fillings and different artistic patterns on the surface area depicting the legends of the festival. Generally , it is round. It - symbolizing the reunion of the family as the Mid-Autumn Festival is a time for family reunion, and " round" has the same pronunciation with " reunion is Chinese word. So, it is easy to understand how the eating of moon cake under the round moon can evoke longing of distant relatives and friends. Nowadays, people present moon cakes ti relatives and friends to demonstrate that they wish them a long and happy life.
Moon cakes are usually oily , so a cup of tea is a perfect " mate " . Try to imagine, you are sitting on the wicker chair, eating a piece of moon cake, drinking a cup of hot tea and looking at the roundest and brightest moon or chatting with friends and family. How enjoyable it is :D
Beside, i think the oolong is the best choice for salty ones and flower tea for sweet ones.
Although these moon cakes are delicious and bring nutrition to the human body, some people such as diabetic, over-weight people, kids and seniors shout not eat too much and avoid them completely. This is due to the moon cakes are high calorie food containing not only much oil, and also sugar or salts.
Traditionally, the lantern has been used to symbolize fertility, and functioned mainly as a toy and decoration. But today the lantern has come to symbolize the festival itself. In the old days, lanterns were made in the image of natural things, myths, and local cultures. Over time, a greater variety of lanterns could be found as local cultures became influenced by their neighbors.
One tradition involving lanterns, 灯谜, is to write riddles on lanterns and have other people try to guess the answers.
Lantern is the things I like the most during the Moon Cake Festival :)
Lantern illuminated the night in the darkness, depending on the light the hearts of lonely , let people will not feel lonely. The lights emitted from the lantern , is the most charming acridine. I like to carry the brighten lantern walk into the night that fill full with darkness, to illuminated the darkness. ;')
I'm going to a BBQ party that hold by my friend tonight. SEE YOU SOON
Happy Moon Cake Festival !
